Juju hats are originally known as a Bamileke feather headdress or a Tyn Hat. The Bamileke are a Grassfield people. They are the largest ethnic group in Cameron, Africa and inhabit the country's West and Northwest Regions.
A juju hat was originally worn as a headdress by the royal dancers of the Bamileke tribes during important ceremonies held by the tribal chief. The juju hat is symbolic of prosperity and believed to possess the positive qualities of the birds and beauty as well as the fragility of life.
